Hi Clara, within the UK many cancer treatment centres provide patients with access to complementary therapies. The link below will provide you with a description of some of them as well as more information on alternative therapies.

Are any of these available in Argentina?

  3. In my hospital we run a breathlessness clinic for patients with cancer. The interventions offered are non-pharmacological - breathing control/exercises, breathing retraining, activity pacing, relaxation and psychological support. You can find out about the research behind this at www.bmj.com Bredin et al, Multicentre randomised controlled trial of nursing intervention for breathlessness in patients with lung cancer. BMJ, 3 April 1999, Vol 318,p901-904.

  4. Hi,

I have a number of cancer care nurses who are trying to offer the best care to their patients and call for advice on alternative treatments and complimentary remedies that work well with conventional treatments. We offer a helpline service to anybody wanting information and assistance on Herbal Remedies and nutritional advice. My number is 0845 863 0725 and ask for Ute. I hope that this helps you take care XX

  5. Hi, Over the years I have accumulated a bit about the alternative remedy scene and my opinion is that there is no way is cancer able to be treated and cured with alternative remedies. Sure, lots of vitamins etc. to build up the immune system is excellent but cancer is one of those diseases that you cannot get away with treating it and curing it by any other means but conventional. The only exception to this I believe is with early stage cancers, (certainly never cancers that have metatisized) is a miraculous healer in Brazil - Medium Joao de Deus (John of God). He, I believe is able to actually cure cancers that are in the early stages. Slow growing cancers that are not widespread probably also would be given an excellent chance of being healed with someone like Joao. He is Medium Joao de Deus, of the Casa de Dom Inacio, Abadiania, Brazil. Lots of info on the internet about him. This is my opnion only. Pam. (Castlemaine, Vic. Australia).

I am a cancer patient, and have gained enormous benefit from Complimentary treatments. I have written a website, which I call HAVING FUN AFTER CANCER - but it is! www.after-cancer.com.
It's not very scientific, but I do mention why massage is beneficial - from a UK, German and other perspectives.
    Hope it might be useful.

  8. There is a tea called tahebo tea (which is bark from a South American tree) that is very good and is used for cancer sufferers here in Australia. I think it's more though that it gives a sense of euphoria and relaxation. It is very expensive and extremely difficult to find.
